NY Auto Show at the Javits

Went to the auto show this Saturday with Reuven, Xebec and his friend from work. It was a great time and quite tiring from all the walking, we were there from 11:30 to about 5.

Overall with the cars there it was decent. A few concept cars kept things interesting, and only a handful of surprises were there, IE: Saturn’s Sky Miata clone. Nevertheless, lots of drooling in general.

I was particularly curious about the Mercury Mountaineer, since the Lincoln Aviator is soon to be dropped. While I like them putting in the center-shifter, the overall look of the interior really needs refinement. The Aviator was a sweet and beautiful car, but none of that design transferred to the Mountaineer. I hope the Mountaineer gets the Aviator’s power and ride.

Jeep had a really wild section of it’s own that included rides in their vehicles over actual dirt, a large uphill structure, and a woman in a tree costume that yielded a hilarious quote from Xebec’s friend. I will not repeat that one here. Besides, he has it recorded on video.

I forced everyone to hike the few blocks to Time’s Square where we ate at Planet Hollywood, and posed for photos in the center of the roads there.

Any car that had a shifter-knob that could be removed, had it stolen.
